Big Lug Canteen is one of our favorite places in Indy. One thing I look for in a restaurant is consistency, and Big Lug fits that bill. Their food is consistent, and we’ve always had a good service experience here. In these times, good service is at a premium and that’s one reason we return often.
Another reason is the wonderful patio on the Monon, and live, local music on select nights.
But the main reason is the food. An inventive menu with weekly specials, and reasonable prices all add up to a great experience for us.
The breaded tenderloin is my go to here. It’s pounded out, but not paper thin. There is still thickness to the sandwich, which is my preference. The meat is fresh and tasty, and the breading has a nice crunch to it. I always ask myself “Would I buy this again” and the answer is a resounding yes…and I have over and over again.
